Doug Oliver has been a significant contributor to the art of the American West for more than three decades. His landscape images of soaring skies and panoramic vistas are well known throughout the contemporary art world. He was born in Dayton, Ohio relocating with his family to California as a young boy. The grandeur of the western landscape had a profound influence on him. He began painting at age twelve and continued his studies throughout his high school and community college years. He entered the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute, earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1968. Soon after, he was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Redlands, California. His early career was spent as an art educator in Lancaster, California teaching in secondary and local community college art departments. He began full time studio work in 1981.
Today, he is represented in several premier art galleries throughout the West. His work is included in some of the finest corporate and private collections worldwide. Limited edition prints and posters have been published by Bentley Fine Art Group, Leslie Levy Fine Art Publishing, Inc. and Winn-Devon Art Publishing Group and distributed internationally. The Art of Doug Oliver has been featured in Art of the West and Southwest Art magazines.
