Doug Oliver has been a significant contributor to the art of the American
West for more than three decades. His landscape images of soaring skies
and panoramic vistas are well known throughout the contemporary art
world.
He was born in Dayton, Ohio relocating with his family to California as a
young boy. The grandeur of the western landscape had a profound
influence on him. He began painting at age twelve and continued his
studies throughout his high school and community college years. He
entered the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute, earning his Bachelor of
Fine Arts degree in 1968. Soon after, he was awarded a Master of Fine
Arts degree from the University of Redlands, California. His early
career was spent as an art educator in secondary and local community
college art departments. He began full time studio work in 1981.
Today, he is represented in several premier galleries in the West. His
work is included in some of the finest corporate and private collections
worldwide. Limited edition prints and posters have been published by
Bentley Fine Art Group, Winn Publishing and distributed internationally.
The Art of Doug Oliver has been featured in Southwest Art and Art of the
West magazines.
He lives with his wife Barbara, in the inspirational confines of northern
Arizona, overlooking the Prescott National Forest. They are parents of
two sons: Jeffrey, systems analyst with Amylin Pharmaceuticals in San
Diego, and Jason, music, sound and dialogue editor with Warner Bros.
Studios in Burbank.
